Japan still missing Summer movie season

Postby Hanzo the Razor » Tue May 08, 2012 10:43 am

Once again Summer movie season has started and Japan is behind. The Avengers came out in the US this past weekend but it came out in a lot of other markets including South Korea a week earlier so I went to see it during my GW holiday. I don't think it'll be out in Japan till August.

FWIW, I liked it.

Hey, at least we are getting the Amazing Spiderman a week before the US. Not that anyone is particularly looking forward to it, I guess. Do we have a local release date for Prometheus yet? Between that, the Avengers, and the Dark Knight Rises my Summer is looking pretty entertaining.

Watched a shitty copy of Avengers online already. Was great but I definitely want to see it in the theater. Maybe when I'm back in LA later this month hahaha.

Spiderman sounds good though, I remember seeing transformers 2...(or was it 3?) premier here first. Other than a few special premiers, it always seems the oyaji in charge of what Japan gets on time are pretty out of touch.

Oh well, TIJ, where "famous" translators who fuck up subtitles keep their jobs rather than being replaced with competent translators, because they're "famous" for fucking up translations of previous hit movies.

I can't believe you'd want to watch a movie like that online first. Especially a bad copy.
