And to bring things full circle, someone mentioned the NHK man, maybe you remember from FG the thread about the NHK collector assaulting my daughter, and all the aftermath. Well the bastards tried to withdraw the money from my daughters account, even though they promised they wouldn't!

Canman, I think you need to make sure that any contract that was made under those circumstances is fully cancelled. If they have a contract on record I can see endless trouble for the future. Somewhere along the line they might even try to prosecute for breach of contract (i.e. non-payment). They've done it before. Make sure that contract is completely rescinded and erased. Get a written statement from them to that effect as well.

That should go straight to the local police box...
No need to mention the whole history. Just that illegal access to funds where tried after being coerced in a contract that was then cancelled...

The part that I emphasized in bold above is the problem.
Does Canman know for sure that the contract was cancelled? The fact that they tried to withdraw the money from his daughter's bank account sort of indicates that it hasn't been. And that is why I'm saying. They've just sort of said "oh sorry" about the incident without properly canceling the contract, which gives them power over the situation. Months or years down the road they could cause all kinds of trouble if the contract remains on the records.
As long as there's a contract the police can do nothing. And if NHK want to be pr*cks about it Canman might have to sue to get it rescinded. That would truly suck. The sooner it's taken care of the better.

I missed that one somehow. Can you at least give us the short version of the story?

I'll let Canman tell the whole story, because it's worth retelling (we should probably even start up a proper thread for this), but basically some NHK agent scumbag ambushed his daughter at her apartment building at around 10:00 at night, which they're not allowed to do, and followed her to her room berating and browbeating her until she signed a contract. As I remember, the building has security but the guy was waiting inside the building. Add illegal entry to the list of transgressions. Canman complained, NHK apologized, said the agent would be dealt with and ... I guess they said the contract would be cancelled. But like I said in a previous post, apparently it wasn't.
Canman ... how am I doing?

canman wrote:Hanzo, you have got it spot on. The only reason I used the word assault, is the fact that the slimy NHK collector, forced his foot into the door, when my daughter tried to close it behind her, and the fact that luckily when my wife called to see if my daughter had reached her apartment safely, the guy was berating my daughter and calling her a thief for watching NHK and not paying for it.
My daughter was forced to sing a contract, I know I guess she didn't have to, but with some rather irate guy yelling at you at 10:00pm, you would do a lot of things to get rid of him.
The next day my wife called NHK, in Yokohama, and complained about what had happened, and she was told that the collectors are working on commission and some are a little too aggressive. They said they were sorry, but my wife didn't feel like they were taking it very seriously. she then called Tokyo and got a higher up, who was more sympathetic, and he said that they would contact the Yokohama branch and that they would not visit or bother my daughter any longer. Also that she didn't have to pay.
But then he told my wife, which really riled both of us, that they couldn't guarantee that another collector might visit her apartment, as the collectors change every three months.
Anyway, last week, my wife got a call from our bank, as she had asked them to watch my daughters account to see if NHK would try to withdraw the money, and sure enough, they did. My wife went to the bank and put a stop on the payment. She called them to tell them that we aren't going to pay, but she was given the run around. So I guess it will be another call to Tokyo headquarters to complain about this.
By the way, my daughter is very slim to answer an earlier question.
